Baje Dam Witnesses Surging Rainwater, Udupi Municipality Takes Measures for Safe Water Supply
Udupi, June 26, 2023: Baje Dam, following heavy rainfall, has received an influx of rainwater from the Swarna river.
The municipal authorities have taken necessary measures to eliminate debris and waste from the river by opening the dam gates. The collected water is then purified and supplied to the public. However, due to the initial rainfall, a slight discoloration of the water may occur, as predetermined by the established standards.
Udupi municipality has already adjusted the purification process and ensured that no garbage contaminates the water distributed to the public. It is important to note that the change in water color is a natural phenomenon that cannot be entirely eliminated during heavy rainfall. Nevertheless, the civic body emphasizes its commitment to public safety by taking extensive measures to purify and distribute the water. The municipal corporation advises residents to boil the water before consumption, especially during the rainy season, as an additional precautionary measure.
In an official statement, the civic body assures the community that steps are being taken to provide completely purified water, prioritizing the well-being of the public despite the inherent challenges associated with heavy rainfall.
