Mangaluru, June 5, 2023: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir (SSRVM), Mangaluru, came alive with vibrant celebrations on June 5th, as the school joined hands with the global community to commemorate World Environment Day.
World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5th, serves as a platform to raise awareness about environmental issues. Each year, the day is celebrated with a specific theme, and this year, the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day centered around the imperative theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
Dr. Rashmi R, senior scientist, horticulture department of Krishi Vigyana Kendra Mangaluru was the chief guest.
She engaged with the students, shedding light on effective solutions to combat plastic pollution. She imparted valuable insights into the practice of kitchen gardening and provided a live demonstration on planting saplings, inspiring the young minds to contribute to a greener future.
World Environment Day aims to instill a sense of environmental consciousness among individuals, emphasizing the importance of preserving our natural surroundings and preventing further degradation. In alignment with this objective, the students of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir Mangalore, along with the faculty and staff, took a solemn pledge to protect and conserve the environment. With a collective spirit of enthusiasm, they marched together, spreading awareness among the public about the pressing environmental issues we face today.
