Udupi DC highlights importance of health education
Udupi, Sep 07, 2022: Creating awareness about health education among the general public will enable people to take precautions against any disease and stay away from them said Udupi DC Kurma Rao M. He suggested the health department act in this regard.
Kurma Rao was speaking after chairing a meeting of various committees of the health department today.
“A healthy society is possible when the public is informed about the spread of all kinds of diseases, their symptoms, precautionary measures, and how to get them treated. The spread of communicable diseases can be controlled if precautions are taken. Many infectious diseases are more commonly seen during the rainy season every year. It is essential to create awareness about their control. Officials should plan properly,” he said.
“Malaria cases in the district are decreasing. By 2028, Udupi should be made a Malaria-free district. The dengue cases are on the rise in the district and local bodies should come forward to control them with the cooperation of gram panchayats,” he added.
Noting that there have been 217 cases of swine flu in the district in the current year and one death, he said that 21 suspected cases of Monkey Fox case have been monitored and examined and no positive cases were found.
He asked the private health institutions to reserve 50 percent of beds for the patients who come for treatment under the Ayushman Arogya Karnataka scheme.
