Gold hidden in carpet seized at Mangaluru Airport
Mangaluru, Sept 21, 2021: A carpet with gold hidden in it. No, it is not any fairy tale or a magic carpet but the one caught by the Customs officers at Mangaluru Airport today morning.
The carpet had gold worth ₹ 13.88 lakh!
A plane from Dubai landed at Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday at 1 am. Passengers had got down from the plane and the customs officials stopped a passenger from Kasargod.
The officials found the pink and maroon-colored floral-designed blanket suspicious and checked it. Their doubt came true when they found 293.620 gram gold of 24-carat purity. According to officials the value of this gold is ₹ 13,88,823.
An offense case has been registered, the officials added.
