Udupi: DC asks health officials to vaccinate senior citizens on priority
Udupi, Aug 21, 2021: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh directed the health department officials to vaccinate all the senior citizens in the district.
He was chairing a meeting at his office today.
“Officials should collect the details of the senior citizens who have received their first dose and yet to take the second one. Steps should be taken to provide vaccines in nearby places. Senior citizens should be given both doses to ensure they are not affected by Covid,” he said.
The district aims to vaccinate 4,13,861 who are above 45 years. Of this 3,32,255 have received the first dose and 1,69,499 have taken the second dose also. While the district has achieved 80 percent in the first dose, it has achieved 41 percent in the second dose.
“All those who visit private hospitals with fever, cold, cough symptoms should compulsorily undergo Covid test. The Covid test has been increased in the district,” he said.
The DC asked the officials to increase testing in the 100 mtr radius of the residence of a positive person. In rural areas, the officials have been asked to intensify testing in a 200 meters radius.
“Students coming from other states should be under isolation for a week and on the 7th day they should undergo a test,” he added.
