Light to moderate rains likely in Coastal Karnataka
Mangaluru, Dec 31, 2020: Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has alerted scattered fairly widespread very light to moderate rains in Coastal Karnataka and Malnad region.
In Dakshina Kannada very light to moderate rains is likely at Moodabidri, Charmadi, Shiradi, Dharmasthala, Kukke, and nearby areas and Hebri in Udupi district.
South Interior and North Interior Karnataka region are likely to witness isolated to scattered very light to light rains. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the remaining parts of the state.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department has issued a warning to fishermen.
High wave alert issued by INCOIS:
“It is forecasted that sea will be rough near shore and the low lying areas at Udupi, Murudeshwar, Gokarna and Mashem. They may experience surges (gushing of sea water into these areas) intermittently till 11 pm of January 1 due to the combined effect of high period (18-20 sec) swell waves, having 1.2 to 1.7 meters height and spring tides,” the warning stated.
