 Srinivas University: Students Undertake Field Survey in Ponnagiri

Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2026: The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), Srinivas University, conducted a community visit and hospital survey at Ponnagiri in Soorinje–Delanthabettu village on February 3 as part of its field-based academic activities.

During the visit, a total of 160 households were surveyed to gather data related to community health and social conditions. The programme saw active participation from 29 MSW students, who engaged in door-to-door surveys and interacted with residents to understand local issues.

The visit was led by Prof. Joyson, Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with faculty members Prof. Ranjith Bhat, Dr. Laveena D’Mello, Dr. Stutima Bassista, and Mr. Sadhananda from the Marketing Department.

Faculty members guided students throughout the survey process, emphasising the importance of community engagement and practical exposure in social work education. The visit provided students with hands-on experience in fieldwork and data collection, reinforcing the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world situations.
