 63.41% Households Covered in Dakshina Kannada Under Ongoing Socio-Educational Survey

Mangaluru, Oct. 07, 2025: The socio-educational survey being conducted across Karnataka has recorded a progress of 63.41 percent in Dakshina Kannada district as of 1 p.m. on Monday.

Education Minister S. Madhu Bangarappa reviewed the progress of the survey at a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangaluru on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V., presenting the progress report, informed that a total of 5,86,134 households have been targeted for the survey in the district. Among these, 3,71,694 households have been surveyed so far. He said the survey is scheduled to continue till October 7, and expressed confidence that the district would achieve higher progress by then.

The DC further stated that the Sullia taluk has completed 100 percent of the survey work, while in the Mangaluru City Corporation limits, data collection has been completed for 1,09,151 households.

Speaking at the review meeting, Minister Madhu Bangarappa appreciated the efforts of teachers involved in the process, acknowledging their dedicated service even during the Dasara holidays. “The Chief Minister’s vision is to ensure that the survey covers every individual in the state,” he said.

The Minister noted that the School Education Department had contributed the largest share of manpower for the survey. Despite challenges at the field level, teachers have carried out their responsibilities efficiently, he added. He also instructed officials to bring any major issues to the attention of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes for necessary guidance and resolution.

MLCs Ivan D’Souza and Manjunath Bhandari, Commission Member Pratibha Kulai, Zilla Panchayat CEO Narwade Vinayak Karbari, Assistant Commissioner Meenakshi Arya, Deputy Director of Public Instruction Shashidhar, and other officials were present at the meeting.
