SP Vows Crackdown on Illegal Lottery and Matka in Uttara Kannada
Karwar, Aug 12, 2025 – The district police will take stringent measures to curb illegal lottery, matka rackets, and betting activities, said District Superintendent of Police Deepan MN.
Speaking at the first quarterly meeting of the 2025–26 Flying Squad for controlling illegal lottery and matka activities, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, the SP stated that in the current quarter, 86 matka cases have been registered, involving 101 accused.
He urged the Playing Squad members to take all necessary steps to make the district completely free from illegal lottery and matka operations. The police department, he assured, will enforce the law strictly to bring such activities under control.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Ahmad Mulla, ASP Krishnamurthy, Commercial Tax Officer Shanmugappa Naregal, Playing Squad Convenor and Assistant Director of the Pension Department Ganesh Patgar, Development Officer Kashimasab Mulla, Sholin D’Costa, and other officials.
