Heavy Rain Alert: Schools and Anganwadis to Remain Closed on June 25 in Four Taluks of Uttara Kannada
Karwar, June 24, 2025: Following an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rainfall from June 24 to 27, the Uttara Kannada district administration has declared a one-day holiday on June 25, 2025, for all Anganwadis, primary, and high schools in Yellapur, Haliyal, Joida, and Dandeli taluks.
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of children amidst ongoing heavy rains and the likelihood of adverse weather conditions.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority has directed the Deputy Directors of the Women and Child Welfare Department (Karwar) and Public Instruction Department (Sirsi) to implement the order strictly. The authorities have also been instructed to make necessary adjustments in the academic calendar to compensate for the declared holiday.
