Karwar, June 16, 2025: With the India Meteorological Department issuing a red alert for Uttara Kannada district from June 16 to June 17 due to heavy and continuous rainfall, the district administration has declared a holiday for Anganwadi centres, and primary and high schools in eight taluks on June 17.

Accordingly, all Anganwadis, and government, aided, and private primary and high schools in the taluks of Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Siddapur, and Yellapur will remain closed on June 17.

This decision follows communications from the Department of Women and Child Development and the Department of School Education, who recommended precautionary closure in view of the heavy rainfall forecast and the potential risk to children.

Concerned officials have been directed to implement this order strictly and to ensure that necessary academic adjustments are made for the lost instructional day.
