The IMD’s weather bulletin, dated June 11, 2025, had warned of continuous heavy rain in the region through the week. Considering the potential inconvenience and risk to students, the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Karwar issued formal orders closing all government, aided, and private schools as well as Anganwadis in the affected taluks for one day. However, the order is specific to June 13 and applies only to these five taluks.

The Department of Public Instruction and the Department of Women and Child Development in Karwar have been instructed to strictly implement the order. Officials have also been advised to ensure that the lost instructional time is compensated for in the coming days by adjusting the academic calendar as necessary.

The district administration has urged parents, school staff, and students to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides during this period of inclement weather.
