 DC Calls for Integrated Safety System to Prevent Industrial and Residential Disasters

Mangaluru, Mar 21, 2025: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M.P. has emphasized the need for an integrated safety system to prevent disasters in industrial and residential areas.

Speaking at the 54th National Safety Day celebrations at Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall on Thursday, the DC stated that Dakshina Kannada is home to several high-risk industries that must regularly assess their safety measures. He stressed that industries must take preventive steps to ensure that any mishap does not have a cascading effect on surrounding areas. He called for a coordinated safety framework involving all stakeholder departments and safety agencies to minimize casualties and damages in case of accidents.

The DC also urged citizens to routinely assess safety measures in their daily lives, noting that disasters not only cause physical harm but also impact mental well-being.

Chief Fire Officer B.M. Thirumalesh, Joint Director of the Department of Factories and Boilers Narendra Babu, MRPL Refinery Director Nandakumar Pillai, and National Safety Council Mangaluru Chapter Coordinator P.F. Mariyannavar were present at the event.
