Scientific Curiosity Ignited: SDM College Hosts Practical Workshop for Students
Ujire, Feb 19, 2025: The Department of Chemistry at SDM Autonomous Degree College, Ujire, organized an informative and practical workshop aimed at fostering scientific curiosity among high school students. The session focused on manufacturing commonly used household products.
The workshop provided insights into the raw materials, costs, and preparation methods for daily-use items such as tooth powder, soap, liquid soap, detergent powder, pain relief creams, phenyl, and perfumes. Live demonstrations were conducted in the chemistry laboratory, with students also being encouraged to participate in the preparation process.
The event was led by third-year chemistry students of the college for the students of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Aided High School, Ujire. Rajani, a third-year chemistry student, explained the workshop’s objectives and significance under the guidance of Chemistry Department Head Nandakumari K.P. The session was coordinated by lecturer Divya, with support from lecturers Ganavi and Sangeetha B.
