Karwar, Dec. 30, 2024: In view of the New Year celebrations on December 31, Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshipriya has issued guidelines to ensure law and order and prevent any untoward incidents in the district.

The public has been strictly prohibited from performing motorcycle stunts, such as wheelies, in public places. Vehicle owners must park their vehicles only in designated parking areas in an orderly manner. Activities like swimming in the sea, waterfalls, or rivers under the influence of alcohol have also been banned to prevent accidents.

The administration has warned against any form of harassment of women during the celebrations. Strict legal action will be taken against those found guilty. Boating at beaches has been restricted post 6 PM, and all bars, restaurants, and homestays must adhere to the timings specified under the Excise Act.

To maintain public order, the use of loudspeakers, which may disturb peace, has been prohibited. Authorities have clarified that any violation of these rules at beaches or other public places will result in legal action.

A comprehensive police deployment has been arranged across Uttara Kannada district to ensure smooth celebrations. Citizens and tourists are urged to act responsibly and cooperate with the police to maintain law and order during the festivities, the release stated.
