100-Day Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign Launched in Udupi
Udupi, December 08: To eliminate tuberculosis (TB) and create a TB-free environment, a 100-day campaign was launched in Udupi under the direction of the Union Government. MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, inaugurating the event at the Dr. V.S. Acharya Hall, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the health department and other agencies to achieve this goal.
“TB is a global concern, and efforts to combat it in India have been ongoing since independence. This 100-day campaign aims to raise awareness about TB and its prevention at the grassroots level,” Poojary said. The campaign will focus on early detection, treatment, and building confidence among TB patients.
Dr. Jose Thomas from the World Health Organization (WHO) outlined the target of reducing TB cases in Karnataka by March 24, 2025. During the event, awards were distributed to 26 Gram Panchayats identified as TB-free, including Uppuru, Hebri, and Gangolli.
District officials, health department representatives, and Gram Panchayat leaders attended the event.
