Mangaluru, Aug 27, 2024: The National Highways Authority has submitted an application to remove 99 trees that obstruct the road widening project on National Highway-66. The project covers the stretch from KPT to Nanthoor, within the limits of Padavu, Kadri B, and Maroli villages, spanning 0.350 km between chainage 1+900 and 2.500.

As per the Karnataka Tree Preservation Act, public hearings must be held before removing more than 50 trees. Therefore, a public hearing has been scheduled for September 2 at 11:00 AM at the office hall of the Zonal Forest Officer in Hoige Bazaar, Mangaluru.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and present their views, according to the Mangaluru Sub-Division Tree Officer and Assistant Forest Conservation Officer in an official press release.
