Udupi’s Flooded Fields: Agriculture Officials Review Damage
Udupi, August 03, 2024: Continuous rainfall across the district has caused significant damage to agricultural land in Udupi taluk, with large areas affected despite artificial assistance. Assistant Agriculture Director and agricultural officials visited the flood-hit areas to assess the damage.
So far, crops have been planted across approximately 14,000 hectares. Damage estimates include 10.80 hectares in Udupi Hobli, 35.00 hectares in Kota Hobli, 3.00 hectares in Brahmavara Hobli, and 14.00 hectares in Kapu Hobli, totaling around 62.80 hectares.
To date, only 11.05 hectares of crop damage claims have been filed by farmers. The Assistant Agriculture Director’s office in Udupi has announced that damage claims for affected crops can be processed following joint surveys conducted with revenue department officials.
Officials stated that compensation will be provided in accordance with the guidelines once the surveys are completed and the applications are reviewed.
