Udupi Prepares for Grand Celebrations of Brahmashri Narayana Guru Jayanti and Sri Krishna Jayanti
Udupi, August 03, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidyakumari has instructed officials to make the necessary preparations to celebrate the district-level Brahmashri Narayana Guru Jayanti on August 20 and Sri Krishna Jayanti on August 26 with grandeur and enthusiasm.
Chairing a preparatory meeting today at the District Commissioner’s office in Manipal’s Rajatadri, Dr. Vidyakumari emphasized the importance of organizing these events effectively.
She directed that the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Jayanti program should be held on August 20 at Narayana Guru School in Malpe at 10 AM. The event will include a lecture on the teachings and philosophy of Narayana Guru by a distinguished speaker. Additionally, speech and essay competitions on Narayana Guru’s principles and ideals should be organized for school and college students, with prizes awarded to the winners during the program.
For Sri Krishna Jayanti, Dr. Vidyakumari instructed that the event be held on August 26 at the Government Girls High School in Udupi, also starting at 10 AM. The program will feature a lecture on Sri Krishna by a prominent speaker, along with a Krishna costume competition for children, with awards for the best performances.
She also advised that similar celebrations be conducted across all taluks in the district under the supervision of the respective Tahsildars. Cultural programs highlighting the teachings and ideals of Brahmashri Narayana Guru and Sri Krishna should be organized, and formal invitations should be printed and distributed to public representatives, dignitaries, and leaders of various organizations.
Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, speaking at the meeting, stressed the importance of making the celebrations impactful and meaningful for the public, ensuring that the ideals of Brahmashri Narayana Guru and Sri Krishna resonate with the common people. He encouraged widespread public participation in these events.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department Poornima, DDPU Maruti, the presidents and officials of the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Association, and the Sri Krishna Association, among others.
