MCC Commissioner Advocates for Comprehensive Pulse Polio Immunization Program
Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2024: Emphasizing the crucial need to ensure every child’s access to the polio vaccine, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner CL Anand urged unwavering cooperation for the success of the Pulse Polio Immunization program.
The appeal came during the city-level steering committee meeting of the Pulse Polio Immunization Program for the year 2023-24, held at the Mangala Auditorium of Mangaluru City Corporation on Tuesday.
Commissioner CL Anand stressed that the availability of the pulse polio vaccine to every child is paramount for a healthier future. He urged parents who might be hesitant to have their children vaccinated to be informed and persuaded about the vaccine’s importance. An appeal was made to raise awareness about the Pulse Polio Program by installing eye-catching banners, and community outreach was encouraged, especially in areas with a high concentration of children.
Highlighting the success of India’s polio eradication efforts, District RCH Officer Rajesh BV stated that the country has been polio-free for the past ten years. To further prevent the resurgence of polio, pulse polio vaccination programs have been organized, with vaccination scheduled to take place from March 3 to 6 at designated booths and through door-to-door campaigns.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. H.R. Thimmaiah, along with officials from various departments, were present at the meeting.
