Uttara Kannada Aims for Maximum Outreach as Yuva Nidhi Scheme Registration Gains Momentum
Karwar, Dec 4, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Gangu Bai Manakar has directed all tahsildars and Executive Officers of Taluk Panchayats in the district to enroll a substantial number of beneficiaries in the Yuva Nidhi scheme, a government-backed initiative, and ensure widespread accessibility of the scheme to the public.
Addressing a meeting on the registration of the Yuva Nidhi scheme at the Deputy Commissioner’s office today, she emphasized that students who completed their degree/diploma in 2022-23 within the district (those who passed in 2023) are eligible for registration under the scheme.
The DC urged the authorities to take proactive measures to extend the scheme’s benefits to the maximum number of beneficiaries across urban local bodies, taluks, and gram panchayats in the district. The Yuva Nidhi scheme provides an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3000 to graduates and Rs. 1500 to diploma holders for two years.
With 32 degree colleges and 8 diploma colleges in the district, the Commissioner instructed officials to collect details and mobile numbers of students who passed out in 2022-23. She emphasized the need to contact them via phone, inform them about the scheme, and display hoardings in all gram panchayats and tahsildar offices. Additionally, publicity boards on the scheme should be strategically placed, and social media platforms should be utilized for further awareness.
The Yuva Nidhi scheme is set to launch on January 12, with funds being credited to the accounts of all registered beneficiaries in the state. She expressed concern over the low registration numbers in the district, urging officials to take extra measures to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries benefit from the scheme.
Applicants can apply through Seva Sindhu, and eligibility requires having obtained a degree/diploma in the State of Karnataka and residing in the state for at least 6 years. SSLC, PUC and degree/diploma pass certificates need to be submitted, and there is no fee for registration. The Commissioner urged college principals to inform students who completed their degree/diploma in 2022-23 and provide their details to the authorities, emphasizing that all eligible graduates should avail themselves of the government scheme’s assistance.
