Udupi DC Emphasizes Tourist Safety Through Lifeguard Deployment at Key Beaches
Udupi, Dec 16, 2023: Dr. Vidya Kumari, the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, took a leading stance on prioritizing tourist safety by stressing the deployment of lifeguards at crucial beaches, including Malpe, Maravanthe, Kapu and Trasi.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that tourists visiting the district face no inconveniences,” she said underscoring a commitment to giving prominence to infrastructure development at popular tourist spots.
MLA Yashpal A Suvarna echoed these sentiments during a training and certificate distribution program for lifeguards at Malpe Beach today.
Commending the district administration’s efforts in deploying skilled lifeguards, Suvarna highlighted the importance of preventing untoward incidents, especially for visitors unfamiliar with the sea’s depth and wave dynamics.
As the number of tourists flocking to Malpe Beach continues to rise, Suvarna disclosed ongoing plans for a comprehensive master development plan that will include essential amenities for the convenience of visitors.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K, Municipal Commissioner Rayappa, Tourism Department Assistant Director Kumar CU, and others were present.
The Varanasi Development and Research Foundation, accredited by the National Life Savings Society, distributed certificates to the life-saving team. The training covered crucial skills such as swimming, artificial respiration, first aid, and transporting the unconscious, reinforcing the commitment to ensuring the safety of beachgoers in Udupi.
