Udupi, Dec 01, 2023: Dr K Vidya Kumari, the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, chaired a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office auditorium today, outlining essential measures for the upcoming Paryaya Mahotsava program scheduled from January 8 to 18, 2024, at Sri Krishna Matha.

Addressing the officials concerned, Dr. K Vidya Kumari emphasized the need to provide necessary basic amenities to the influx of devotees expected from different parts of the state, other regions, and abroad.

She underscored the importance of enhancing cleanliness, sanitation, road conditions, water supply, and overall infrastructure to accommodate the anticipated increase in the city’s crowd during the celebration.

Priority was given to road works with an emphasis on quality to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, and the directive included the construction of mobile toilets and deployment of additional Pourakarmikas to maintain the city’s cleanliness.

The police department was instructed to make necessary security arrangements (bandobast), while temporary parking solutions were advised for efficient vehicle movement and parking.

In terms of health facilities, the DC instructed the health department officials to set up temporary health centers within the Sri Krishna Matha premises, equipped with doctors and medical staff to address any emergency health concerns. To facilitate the convenience of devotees arriving from various parts of the state, the Deputy Commissioner called for additional KSRTC Buses to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Dr. K Vidya Kumari further directed the submission of a proposal to the government seeking funds for essential infrastructure development, with the appointment of nodal officers for overseeing each system.

Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna expressed expectations of thousands of devotees visiting the city daily during the event. He called for cooperation from local municipal and district administrations, urging precautionary measures for uninterrupted power supply and the procurement of additional fire tenders from neighboring districts.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, senior officials, Matha staff were present.
