Lakshadeepotsava Illuminates Udupi
Udupi, Nov 05, 2023: The sacred precincts of Udupi Sri Krishna Matha came alive today as the grand Lakshadeepotsava, a celebration steeped in religious fervor and tradition, commenced with great splendor.
Lakshadeepotsava, extending from Utthana Dwadashi to the Poornima of Karthika Masa (usually a four-day festivity), marks a significant occasion in the religious calendar. The Paryaya Peetadhipathi, Sri Vidyasagara Tirtha Sripadaru, initiated the proceedings with the offering of Tulasi Pooja in the morning, followed by the divine ‘Ksheerabdhi’ ritual in Madhva Sarovara.
The ceremonial Charama Seve, conducted by the Paryaya Peetadhipati, set the stage for the Teepotsava, a luminous spectacle that captivated the devotees. The Utsava Moorthi of Sri Krishna and Sri Mukhyaprana then embarked on a majestic procession aboard the ‘Garuda Ratha,’ accompanied by the smaller chariot carrying the Utsava Moorthi of Sri Chandramauleeshwara and Sri Anantheshwara.
Kseerabdhi
The evening of Utthana Dwadashi witnessed a special ‘Ksheerabhi’ offering at the Mantapa in Madhva Sarovara. Asta Matha Swamijis, including Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Vidyasagara Tirtha Sripadaru, Sri Vidyadhisha Tirtha (Palimaru Matha senior pontiff), Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha (Pejawara Matha), Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha (Kaniyooru Matha), Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha (Adamaru Matha Jr Pontiff), Sri Vidyarajeshwara Tirtha (Palimaru Matha Jr Pontiff) and Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha (Shiruru Matha) participated in this sacred ritual.
Ksheerabdhi holds profound significance, symbolizing the awakening of Sri Vishnu from his four-month ‘Yoga Nidra.’ As the Nityotsava of Sri Krishna commences today, it is set to unfold its divine charm until Bhagirathi Jayanthi, typically celebrated in June.
The Lakshadeepotsava not only marks a spiritual journey but also stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and unwavering devotion in the vibrant city of Udupi. Devotees from far and wide join in this annual celebration, immersed in the spirituality and tradition that define this auspicious occasion.
As the radiant lights of Lakshadeepotsava continue to glow, Udupi Sri Krishna Matha remains a beacon of spirituality, casting its divine glow over the devotees and the city it graces.
