 MT Reju Ensures Quality Standards in Hostels

Udupi, November 03, 2023: District In-Charge Secretary MT Reju paid a visit to and conducted a thorough inspection of hostels and ashram schools under the Social Welfare Department and Backward Classes Department in Byndoor and Kundapur taluks.

During the inspection, he meticulously scrutinized various aspects of the hostels, including students’ accommodation, kitchen facilities, food storage center, bathroom and toilet facilities, as well as the designated study areas.

Addressing the gathering, Reju urged officials to create a conducive learning environment within the hostels, emphasizing the importance of providing students with optimal conditions for academic success.

He took note of the existing issues, such as staff shortages in the hostels, the nominal Rs 1,000 monthly compensation for cleaners, and the Rs 1,000 honorarium for part-time instructors who conduct evening tuition sessions. Reju assured that steps will be taken to bring these concerns to the attention of the government for necessary action.

Reju commended the commendable standards of cleanliness and food arrangements observed during his visit and encouraged continuous improvement in these areas moving forward.

In an engaging session, Reju interacted with students, discussing general knowledge questions and mathematical calculations to gauge their academic progress.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidya Kumari, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H and other officials were present.
