Karwar, September 30, 2023: In a tribute to the indomitable spirit of sea warriors, Naval Base Karwar is all set to host the maiden edition of the ‘Karwar Run and Cyclothon’ as part of Navy Day festivities. This unique event not only honors the valorous history of the Indian Navy but also offers a window into its glorious past, from the historic capture of Anjadiv Island in 1961 to the pivotal role played in the 1971 attacks on East and West Pakistan.

The event is thoughtfully planned against the stunning backdrop of the Naval Base, Karwar, providing participants with an awe-inspiring route.

Enthusiasts can expect an exhilarating 50 Km Cyclothon along some of the most picturesque beaches, coupled with a scenic 10 Km run by the sea. For those seeking a lighter challenge, a delightful 5 Km fun run has also been included, promising a day of invigorating activity for participants of all levels.

To add a touch of festivity, a treasure trove of rewards including T-Shirts and Medals awaits participants. In addition, a delectable spread of refreshments and a lively ambiance created by music and Zumba sessions for warm-up promise a day of celebration and fitness.

Rear Admiral KM Ramakrishnan, Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area, has extended a hearty invitation to the civilian population of Karwar. He envisions this event as a standout feature in Karwar’s annual calendar, one that not only pays tribute to the Navy’s illustrious history but also bolsters local tourism and the economy.
