Public Grievances in Focus: Mangaluru Gears Up for Janata Darshan on Sept 25th
Mangaluru, September 23, 2023: Dr. Anandh, the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat, announced that meticulous arrangements have been put in place by the District Administration and Zilla Panchayat for the ‘Janata Darshan’ on September 25.
These measures aim to ensure a seamless Janata Darshan program scheduled to take place at Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall.
Chairing a preparatory meeting held at the Netravathi auditorium of Zilla Panchayat in the city, Dr. Anandh outlined the three-phase preparations designed to facilitate the public in submitting their grievances.
In the first phase, a dedicated help desk will be established to guide the public towards the relevant departments corresponding to their concerns. Subsequently, during the second phase, applications received from the public will be directed to respective department counters. The department staff will be present at the Town Hall by 8 am- 8.30 am on the said day, addressing grievances within their purview, providing necessary remedies, and detailing the steps taken.
Dr. Anandh emphasized the need to escalate applications that warrant government attention. These applications will be systematically recorded on a computerized spreadsheet, ensuring each is assigned a sequential number. Pertinent details such as names, mobile numbers, and concise descriptions of problems will also be documented.
The third phase will allow the public to present their problems directly to the district in-charge minister, conveying them orally.
Dr. Anandh stressed the importance of maintaining a clear and orderly process throughout all three phases.
Additionally, he called for a user-friendly tracking system for submitted applications. Both the grievances and the associated spreadsheet will be documented on the existing Public Grievance Redressal System (IPGRS) portal, guaranteeing timely resolution.
He mandated the submission of a compliance report to the public and the public disclosure of the number of applications submitted under the jurisdiction of various departments by day’s end.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Santhosh Kumar addressed the meeting, outlining plans for the systematic execution of Janata Darshan.
He confirmed the establishment of ten help desks at the Town Hall, each requiring the deployment of four staff members, including a taluk-level officer from the concerned department. Furthermore, he announced the creation of twenty counters by the district administration, underscoring the need for adequate resources such as computers, printers, tables, chairs, and stationery. Above all, he stressed the importance of maintaining a calm and informative interaction with the public.
Dr. Santhosh Kumar also called for uninterrupted power supply from MESCOM, provision of drinking water by the Mangaluru City Corporation, and ensured cleanliness at both Town Hall and Mini Town Hall.
