KMC Hosts 12th Annual State Conference of KSC-AGOI Conference
Manipal, September 13, 2023: The 12th Annual State Conference of KSC-AGOI (Karnataka State chapter of the Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India) held at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal on Sept 9 and 10, was a testament to the strides made in the field of gynecologic oncology.
Organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the event witnessed the distinguished presence of key figures in the medical community.
Inaugurated by Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor MAHE, Manipal, the conference opened with an enlightening address emphasizing the critical role of this subspecialty. Notable attendees included Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean KMC Manipal, Dr. Pralhad Kushtagi, President KSCAGOI, and Dr. Shivakumar HC, Secretary, KSCAGOI.
The conference featured accomplished speakers from various corners of the state, as well as experts from beyond Karnataka and even overseas. The discussions encompassed crucial topics in gynaecologic oncology, with a significant focus on the prevention of cervical cancer through HPV vaccination, community awareness, and screening. These conversations were bolstered by the support of the PRESCRIPTEC project.
The conference’s overarching objective was to convene leading experts in gynaecologic oncology, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, addressing pivotal issues within the field, and advocating for increased awareness and preventive measures against gynaecologic cancers, particularly cervical cancer. Events of this caliber play a pivotal role in advancing medical understanding and elevating healthcare practices.
Dr. Shripad Hebbar, Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Shyamala G, Professor and Coordinator of the Gynaecologic Oncology Fellowship Program, proposed the vote of thanks.
