Udupi: Dr TMA Pai Hospital to Host Free Bone Mineral Density Camp on July 26
Udupi, July 24, 2023: In an effort to raise awareness about osteoporosis and the significance of early diagnosis, Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi, is all set to host a Free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp on July 26 at the Department of Orthopedics.
This initiative aims to detect the onset of osteoporosis and provide valuable guidance on managing the condition to prevent fractures and related complications.
The camp will be held from 9 am to 3 pm and has a limited capacity of 100 participants, with registration being conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weakened bones and increased fracture risk, often goes unnoticed due to a lack of awareness among the general population. It primarily affects postmenopausal women, making early detection critical in curbing its progression. Dr. Rajaram Pai, Head of the Department of Orthopedics at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi, underscores the importance of BMD testing in identifying osteoporosis at an early stage.
BMD testing is a non-invasive procedure that helps assess bone density and provides essential insights into bone health. By participating in the camp, individuals above the age of 40, especially women who are at higher risk, can gain access to this valuable diagnostic tool at no cost.
