Very Heavy Rain Expected in Coastal Karnataka
Udupi, July 18, 2023: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas of Coastal Karnataka districts until the morning of July 20.
According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is expected in isolated places across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts until the morning of July 20. Alongside the heavy rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 Kmph are also likely to occur at isolated places throughout the Coastal Karnataka region on these days.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Karnataka Coast from July 18 to 21. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea.
Moreover, from July 20 to the morning of July 23, heavy rain measuring between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is anticipated in isolated places across all districts of Coastal Karnataka. Residents are advised to exercise caution and be prepared for possible localized flooding, waterlogging, and associated risks.
Fishermen warning:

High swell waves in the range of 2.0 – 2.8 meters are predicted during 11.30 pm on July 18 along the coast from Mangalore to Karwar of Karnataka Coast. Current speed to vary between 22 – 46 cm/sec.
