Manipal Arogya Card 2023 Launched, Offering Affordable Healthcare Benefits
Manipal, June 21, 2023: Dr. HS Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), launched the Manipal Arogya Card 2023 on June 20.
The initiative coincides with the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the visionary founder, Dr. T. M. A. Pai, whose remarkable contributions have transformed the Indian healthcare system.
During the launch event Dr. H. S. Ballal expressed his delight in announcing the enrollment for Manipal Arogya Card 2023.
“We are celebrating the 125th year birthday celebration of our visionary founder Dr. T M A Pai. This is our duty and responsibility to remember his noble work. The Indian healthcare system was altered by the inspirational community leader Dr. T.M.A. Pai. Such dedication, commitment, and service to society are extremely uncommon to see. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Manipal Arogya Card 2023 enrolment is starting today. The card was incepted with an aim to make quality healthcare treatment affordable to the public and the cardholder can avail benefits of Medical and Dental services,” he said.
The aim of the card is to provide accessible and quality healthcare treatment at affordable prices. Cardholders can avail themselves of various medical and dental services, receiving benefits such as a 50% discount on consultation fees for specialist and super specialist doctors, a 30% discount on diagnostics and laboratory investigations, a 20% discount on radiology investigations, OPD procedures, and diabetic foot care.
Additionally, cardholders receive a ₹100/- discount on dialysis, up to a 12% discount on medicines purchased from the hospital pharmacy, and a 25% concession on inpatient bills (excluding consumables and packages) in the general ward.
Dr. Ballal further explained that the Manipal Arogya Card 2023 offers both one-year and two-year membership schemes.
The one-year scheme includes individual membership for ₹300/-, family membership (including spouse and unmarried children below 25 years) for ₹600/-, and family plus membership (including spouse, unmarried children below 25 years, and up to 4 parents, including in-laws) for ₹750/-.
The two-year scheme offers individual membership for ₹500/-, family membership for ₹800/-, and family plus membership for ₹950/-, providing additional benefits.
Reflecting on the journey of Manipal Arogya Card, Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of MAHE, highlighted that the scheme was initiated in the year 2000 as part of the institution’s social responsibility under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Ramadas Pai, Chancellor of MAHE Manipal.
The scheme was initially introduced for the people of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district and has since expanded to encompass 12-15 districts in coastal and central Karnataka, including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Davangere, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Chikamagalur, and Bellary.
It has also extended its reach to neighboring states like Kerala and Goa. In 2019, Manipal Arogya Card transitioned from a paper-based system to digital mode, and future plans aim to become completely card-less and customer-friendly. With over 22 years of service, the scheme has provided high-quality healthcare at discounted rates to millions of people, as evidenced by the enrollment of 640,000 members in 2022.
