 Folk Songs and Street Plays Inspire Civic Responsibility in Voters

Mangaluru, April 21, 2023: The State Election Commission, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and Taluk SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Committee came together to organize an enlightening event. The event, which took place at the bus stands in the town, featured street plays and traditional folk songs aimed at raising awareness about the importance of voting.

Through folk songs and engaging performances, the community was reminded of the importance of voting, the need to resist any attempts at bribery or coercion, and the importance of carefully choosing a candidate before casting a ballot. In addition, voters were reminded to take appropriate precautions in case of any suspicious behavior at the polls.

Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Lokesh, National Service Scheme Officer of St. Agnes College Udaykumar, and sweep officers Tejakshi and Dombayya Idkidu were present.

Students from Women’s First Grade College Balmatta and St. Agnes played an active role in promoting the event and raising awareness about the importance of voting.
