Mangaluru International Airport introduces FASTag solution for seamless parking experience
Reiteration of airport’s commitment to technological intervention
Mangaluru, April 18, 2023: Mangaluru International Airport has taken a step forward in its technological offerings by introducing an upgraded automated car parking system with the introduction of the FASTag solution.
Effective April 18, passengers, greeters, and those coming to the airport for meetings can take advantage of this new system when parking their vehicles in the designated parking lot. Developed as an electronic toll collection system in India, FASTag eliminates the need for cash transactions and enables a quicker parking option for all.
To optimize movement and reduce wait times, the airport has designated a lane each at entry and exit for passengers using the FASTag option. According to an airport spokesperson, the adoption of FASTag will save passengers time and fuel as they wait to enter or exit the airport. Passengers can now park their vehicles without manual intervention, such as waiting for a parking receipt or making cash/credit payments at the entrance or exit, making the overall experience more seamless.
Travelers using the FASTag system are advised to ensure their tag is active and has sufficient balance for a smooth exit. Passengers entering through the designated FASTag lane (lane 2) at entry should follow the same corresponding lane (lane 3) at exit. The standard parking rate applies, with no additional cost added for this automated parking facility. The airport has upgraded its signages at both entry and exit to indicate the FASTag lane, and the facility will continue to upgrade its technology offerings to enhance day-to-day operations within the airport.
While prioritizing passengers’ convenience, the airport acknowledges that some may travel without a FASTag. To accommodate this, the airport has maintained the manual parking process and pass-through lanes, which do not have a FASTag facility. The airport remains committed to implementing initiatives that improve the overall travel experience for all.
