PM Modi to dedicate and lay foundation stone for projects worth Rs. 16,000 crores in Karnataka
New Delhi, March 11, 2023: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka to dedicate and lay the foundation stones for various projects worth approximately Rs. 16,000 crores on March 12.
The Prime Minister will commence his visit by dedicating and laying the foundation stone for key road projects in Mandya at around 12 noon. Later, at approximately 3:15 PM, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development initiatives in Hubballi-Dharwad.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation, which involves 6-laning of the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru section of NH-275. This 118 Km long project has been developed at a cost of around Rs. 8480 crores and will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from around 3 hours to about 75 minutes, thereby acting as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Mysuru-Kushalnagar 4 lane highway, which will be developed at a cost of around Rs. 4130 crores, and will help halve the travel time from about 5 hours to only 2.5 hours, thereby boosting connectivity of Kushalnagar with Bengaluru.
In Hubballi-Dharwad, the Prime Minister will dedicate IIT Dharwad to the nation, which was founded with a cost of over Rs. 850 crores and currently offers various B.Tech., BS-MS, M.Tech., and Ph.D. programs. He will also dedicate the longest railway platform in the world at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station, which has been built at a cost of about Rs. 20 crores and recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. Moreover, he will inaugurate the electrification of Hosapete-Hubballi-Tinaighat section and the upgradation of Hosapete station, which have been developed at a cost of over Rs. 530 crores, establishing seamless train operation on electric traction and providing convenient and modern facilities to travellers.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various projects of Hubballi-Dharwad smart city, which have a total estimated cost of about Rs. 520 crores, and will enhance the quality of life by creating hygienic, safe, and functional public spaces, and transforming the town into a futuristic urban centre. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Jayadeva Hospital and Research Centre, which will be developed at a cost of about Rs. 250 crores, providing tertiary cardiac care to the people of the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Dharwad Multi Village Water Supply Scheme and the Tupparihalla Flood Damage Control Project, which will be developed at a cost of over Rs. 1040 crores and about Rs. 150 crores, respectively, aiming to augment water supply in the region and mitigate damage caused by floods through construction of retaining walls and embankments.
