Mangaluru Airport celebrates Holi and Women’s Day with a splash of colors and empowerment
Mangaluru, March 10, 2023: Mangaluru International Airport saw a unique celebration on March 8th as Holi, the festival of colors, and International Women’s Day coincided, resulting in a day full of education, information, and fun for all.
The day was filled with educational and informative sessions, along with an array of fun-filled activities that left the women stakeholders at the Airport thrilled.
The day began with an inspiring talk by Spiritual leader Vishweshwari from the Brahma Kumaris on women’s safety and empowerment. Following this, Dr. M S Athiyamaan and Dr. S Vinaya Poornima, head of department and associate professor respectively from the department of radiology and oncology at KMC Hospital, Attavar, conducted an awareness program on breast cancer and mammography.
The celebration officially kicked off with a cake-cutting ceremony led by Vishweshwari and women employees representing different airport stakeholders. Vishweshwari also applied vermilion to the foreheads of all present in a symbolic gesture of universal brotherhood, and highlighted the significance of Holi in fostering love for nature. She also gave useful tips on women’s safety and empowerment.
In addition to the talks and ceremonies, there was a discussion on the importance of personal savings and the role India Post can play in this regard. The day ended with a vibrant enactment of women’s achievements in diverse areas with a flash mob featuring professional choreographers and students, showcasing how women have carved a unique niche for themselves in all areas of work.
The flash mob also added to the festive spirit by incorporating Holi-themed songs, distributing greeting cards to women passengers and stakeholders, and entertaining everyone present. Even CISF personnel joined in on the celebration, singing popular Hindi songs. The airport employees also participated and celebrated Holi with great enthusiasm towards the end of the day.
