Congress accused of abolishing Lokayukta to conceal scams
Bengaluru, Jan 23, 2023: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, has accused the previous Congress government of closing the Lokayukta, an anti-corruption institution, in order to bury the scams of the Congress government.
The Chief Minister told this while speaking to reporters after offering the floral tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary here on Monday.
Reacting to the Congress protest ‘Stop Corruption, Save Bengaluru,’ the CM termed the Congress Party as the ‘Gangotri’ of corruption.
He asserted having documents showing that the previous government (Congress government) paid 60% premium worth Rs 800 crore in Bengaluru.
“There is no instance of paying 60 per cent premium worth Rs 800 crore in the entire country. Now they talk of corruption. It is being done to cover-up their mistakes,” he said.
Bommai also mentioned that his government has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta and called on Congress leaders to provide details to the anti-corruption institution.
He further added that the Congress party is holding protest over 300 places in the state to cover-up their misdeeds.
On Congress Party comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hitler, the CM said the people know what Modi has done and criticising him is like spitting in the air.
“When AICC President Sonia Gandhi termed Modi as Maut Ka Saudhagar, the BJP came back to power with more number of seats in Gujarat,” he added.
