Madhav Nayak welcomes resumption of Memu train service
Karwar, Jan 04, 2022: Janashakti Vedike president Madhav Nayak has expressed happiness over the government’s decision to resume Memu Train between Mangaluru and Madgaon.
“Many people from Uttara Kannada district go for treatment in hospitals at Udupi and Mangaluru. This train was very useful for them. But it was stopped during the pandemic. In the last three years, people going to hospitals in Udupi and Mangaluru, and also who took this train to reach their office faced trouble. We were in constant touch with the RRM and demanding him to solve the problem,” Madhav Nayak said.
“I had spoken to the RRM on Wednesday also. He had said that the Memu train will resume in two days. Today Konkan Railway has published the timetable. The service will resume on Jan 5. I would like to thank the RRM and Konkan Railway officials,” he said.
“We had also demanded the officials to give a stop at Harwad, Mirjan, Chitrapura for this train. Also to upgrade the platform at Harwad station. We hope the officials will act failing to which we will have to symbolically protest on Jan 16,” he added.
