World Computer Literacy Day held at St Mary’s College
Shirva, Dec 05, 2022: In the present technological and competitive era, Computers help in carrying out tasks easily and effectively in all fields. Computer knowledge will help youth while getting a job. The interest to learn and not age is important for learning, said Jackaline Mendonca, SDA, St Mary’s College.
She was speaking at the World Computer Literacy Day celebrations at the college jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science and Computer Literacy Cell today.
She handed over the certificates to the students. Several competitions were held on the occasion.
In his presidential address, Dr. Herald Ivan Monis asked the students to give importance to computer education in the college as it would help them in their future.
“Computer learning along with academic education is very important. As a part of this, the department will provide free computer basic and tally courses to all the students and distribute certificates. The certificate will help students to get jobs,” said Lt Praveen Kumar, head, Department of Computer Science.
Pawan Kumar, a second BA student, expressed his opinion about his computer learning. Aditya Shettigar, the first BCA student, spoke on the main objective of the program.
Sangeetha Poojary, a lecturer of the college, Priyanka, faculty and non-teaching staff, and students were present on the occasion.
Students Anuk Nayak and Allister Suja D’Souza assisted in the program. Divyashree, Coordinator, Computer Literacy Cell welcomed the gathering. Selma Pinto delivered the vote of thanks. K Raksha and team offered prayers. Shreya Safaliga compered the program.
