Udupi, Nov 15, 2022: Under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for the current Kharif season, registration centers for paddy procurement in the district to purchase locally grown paddy from farmers in the district would be open from Nov 21.
Presiding over the district task force committee meeting at his office, Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M instructed the officials concerned to start the process of registration of farmers.
The government has announced support prices for verities like Kaje, Jaya, Jyothi, Panchamukhi, Sahyadri, Usha, Abhilasha, and MO4 which are grown in the district. The support price has been fixed at Rs.2540 for normal paddy. The DC instructed to open paddy registration centers at 10 places and paddy procurement centers at seven places for the benefit of farmers. He asked the officials to make all necessary preparations to open additional registration and procurement centers if a need arises.
The DC directed the officials to deploy graders to check the quality of the paddy. The paddy procurement centers were asked to identify the required storage centers to store the purchased paddy in an appropriate manner.
The farmers who are already registered with FRUITS software can sell their paddy at the procurement centers and the farmers who have not yet registered can register and sell it. Since the money from the sale of paddy is directly credited to the bank account of the farmers, farmers have been asked to provide details of their bank account which has been linked with their Aadhaar number.
