Gau Pooja held at Kateel Temple
Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2022: ‘Gau Pooja,’ was held at the Gow Shala of Sri Kshetra Kateel on October 27.
Hereditary trustee Vasudeva Asranna, Hereditary archaks Anantapadmanabha Asranna, Venkataramana Asranna, Kamaladeviprasada Asranna, Sriharinarayanadasa Asranna, Gopalakrishna Asranna, VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell, Bhujanga Kulal, Mohan Rao, Sumant Shetty, BJP leader Eshwar Kateel offered Pooja.

According to the Sthala Purana, the Nandini River at Kateel is the daughter of Kamadhenu. So Gau Pooja has special importance here.
Speaking on the occasion VHP Dakshina Prant Saha Karyadarshi Sharan Pumpwell stressed the need to protect cattle.

Sriharinarayanadasa Asranna spoke about the efforts of the temple toward Cow protection.
He said that the temple spends about Rs 30 lakh a year on cattle. The temple has asked the government to provide land for the extension of Gow Shala.
