Manipal: Dr. Anil Kakodkar to speak at MIT
He will speak on the topic “Relevance of nuclear energy in achieving net zero CO2 emission”.
Manipal, Oct 19, 2022: Renowned Nuclear Physicist Dr Anil Kakodkar will be speaking at the Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal on the topic “Relevance of nuclear energy in achieving net zero CO2 emission” on Oct 20.
The program is organized by MIT Manipal in association with All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE).
Dr Kakodkar is AICTE Distinguished Chair Professor, Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Chairman, Rajiv Gandhi Science & Technology Commission and Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission. A Padma Vibhushan Awardee, Dr Kakodkar has worked for the development of the atomic energy programme in India throughout his professional life.
At MIT Manipal, Dr Kakodkar will speak on how nuclear energy can be relevant in achieving net zero CO2 emission. Net-zero emissions will be achieved when all GHG emissions released by human activities are counterbalanced by removing Green House Gases (GHG) from the atmosphere in a process known as carbon removal.
Dr Kakodkar will elaborate on how nuclear energy is critical and crucial to achieve this.
“We are extremely delighted to have Dr Anil Kakodkar speak at MIT, MAHE. His achievements in the field of nuclear energy have been remarkable. With the world at a tipping point regarding global warming, and the need to resort to clean energy sources that do not emit carbon dioxide, nuclear energy will become even more important. We are privileged to have an expert like Dr Kakodkar enlighten us with his insights over the topic,” Lt. Gen (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor, MAHE said.
