Udupi, Sept 27, 2022: Apart from the major tourist spots in the Udupi district, there are many other untrodden tourist destinations in the district. There is a need to make tourists aware of these, said Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

He was speaking at the bike rally organized on the occasion of World Tourism Day today. The program was organized by the district administration, tourism department, and coastal tourism organizations, Udupi. The rally was held from DC’s office to Malpe.

“Apart from the major well-known tourist spots like Sri Krishna Math, Malpe Beach, and St. Mary’s Island in the district, there are several other tourist places like the Sooralu Mud Palace. They need to be introduced to tourists with more attention. Mannapalla Lake in Manipal is being developed. We have also got relaxation in CRZ norms. This will help in the development of tourism in the district,” he added.

Bhat said that in the Post Covid era, people prefer to visit tourist destinations within the country.

“We need to give more publicity to the tourist destination through social media,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M said that there is a need to simplify the rules for the development of tourism.

“The government has relaxed the CRZ norms. The process of granting permission for homestays is being simplified and made online. All mediums are being used to attract tourists to the district,” he said.

Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Kiran Phadnekar, Tourism Department Assistant Director Clifford Lobo, office-bearers of coastal tourism organizations, and others were present on the occasion.

More than 60 bike riders participated in the bike rally and vintage car rally. More than 15 bloggers had come to report on social media about the tourist destinations in the district.
