Manipal, Sept 18, 2022: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal organized Engineers Day celebration and Professor P V Bhandary Memorial Oration Sir M V Seminar Hall on Sept 15. 

The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Ramnarayan, Pro-Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University Sikkim, and Former Vice Chancellor, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Girish Bharadwaj, Padma Shri awardee, Engineer, and Social worker, popularly known as Bridgeman of India was the Guest of Honour. Director, Cdr. Dr. Anil Rana presided over the function. 

Dr. Ramnarayan delivered the fifth lecture in the series of Prof. P V Bhandary Memorial Oration. He recalled his association with Prof. P V Bhandary during his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of MAHE. He emphasized the need for creating a safe learning environment for effective learning. 

Dr. Girish Bharadwaj, through his Engineers Day Special talk, narrated his experience and highlighted the challenges that he and his team faced in the sites and the constraints with which the bridges were built in the rural areas.

Cdr. Dr. Anil Rana, Director, MIT Manipal elaborated on the relevance of engineers and the greater roles they will have to play in building the nation.  

Prof K J Kamath presented a brief introductory note on Prof P V Bhandary. 

Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director of MIT Manipal welcomed the gathering. Dr. B H V Pai, Professor in Civil Engineering, and Dr. Srikanth Prabhu, Associate Professor-Senior from Computer Science & Engineering department introduced the guests. Dr. Shankaranarayana Bhat, Associate Director (FD&W), proposed the vote of thanks.
