Chamarajapet Idgah Maindan row: Meeting on Aug 27 to decide on further action
Bengaluru, Aug.26, 2022: Stating that the interim orders of High Court of Karnataka in regard to the ownership of Idgah Maidan in Chamarajapet will be implemented in letter and spirit, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said a meeting with State Advocate General and Revenue Minister R. Ashok has been convened tomorrow (Saturday) to discuss regarding the court verdict and take necessary action.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here on Friday, he said division bench of the High Court has given its interim order regarding Survey No 40 of Chamarajapet, and the government has to take a suitable decision. The court, in its interim order, has observed that India is a place for all communities and all religious people. A meeting with the State advocate general and Revenue Minister will be held tomorrow (Saturday) to take a suitable decision in this regard. The government will try to maintain peace in the society as well as to fulfill feelings of all.
Commenting on several organisations including Nagarikara Okkuta for the celebrations of Ganeshotsava in Idgah Maidan, the CM said the government will take suitable decision after studying the court’s interim order in detail.
Regarding the Ganeshotsava in Hubballi, Bommai said the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation and an all party meeting will be held on August 29 to decide on the matter. This matter was entirely different as far as the ownership of land is concerned, and there is orders of the Supreme Court in this regard. Both rules and court orders will be followed strictly, he added.
