Govt approves MCC’s water tariff revision
Mangaluru, July 18, 2022: The Karnataka government has given its nod to the revision of the water tariff in Mangaluru City Corporation.
“Due to the continuous effort, the request put forth by the Corporation has now been approved by the State Government. I thank the Chief Minister, Urban Development Minister, and the Ministers of the City on behalf of the citizens of Mangaluru for decreasing the water tariff rate while keeping the welfare of citizens in mind,” Mangaluru Mayor Premanand Shetty said in a press statement.
“The plea to revise the water tariff hike in Mangaluru City Corporation limits, that was done in accordance with State Government order, was previously rejected. It was the Corporation’s priority and duty to pay heed to the repeated requests submitted by citizens to decrease the tariff rate,” he said.
“Following this, a detailed discussion was held in the general body meeting in May 2022. The pointers taken during this meeting were submitted to the government. Due to the continuous effort, the requests put forth by the Corporation have now been approved by the State Government. I thank the Chief Minister, Urban Development Minister, and the Ministers of the City on behalf of the citizens of Mangaluru for decreasing the water tariff rate while keeping the welfare of citizens in mind,” he added.
