IMD issues red alert for Coastal Karnataka districts
Udupi, July 06, 2022: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
According to the IMD bulletin, isolated places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to experience extremely heavy rain till July 7 morning. The rain is likely to be above 204.5 mm.
From July 7 morning to July 9 morning it is an orange alert where the rain is likely to be. The rain is likely to be between 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm.
High waves in the range of 3.5 to 4.8 meters are forecasted from 5.30 pm on July 5 and 11.30 pm on July 7 along the coast from Mangaluru to Karwar of Karnataka coast. The current speed is likely to vary between 50-80 cm/sec.
As strong wind with speed reaching 45.55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Karnataka coast, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
According to KSNDMC Kodkani of Siddapur Taluk recorded the highest rainfall in the state (227.5 mm) in the 24 hours till June 6 morning.
