Coastal districts witness heavy rain
Mangaluru, June 30, 2022: Roads and houses in the low-lying areas were flooded and traffic hit due to heavy rain in the Coastal region on Thursday.
Mangaluru witnessed incessant rain since Wednesday. As a result, many low-lying areas in the city were flooded in the morning. Traffic was severely hit in places like Kottara Chowki- Malemar and Padil- Kannur. As the vehicles found it difficult to move on the road due to water, and also because of traffic diversions, the city witnessed traffic jam in several places.
The houses near the Storm Water Drains were inundated in many places and the people expressed their unhappiness against the authorities for not solving their problem which they are experiencing for several years.
The district administration declared a holiday for the PU and Degree colleges. The school authorities were asked to take all precautionary measures for the safety of the children who had reached school.
Meanwhile, about three flights were delayed at Mangaluru International Airport.
