Hegde directs officials to speed up NH works
Karwar, June 27, 2022: Member of Parliament Anantkumar Hegde directed the officials to complete the National Highway works within the timeframe.
“The work should be completed without any delay. Submit a detailed report on the technical snags and delays in the ongoing road works,” the MP told officials during the review meeting of NH-66 at the DC office today.
“The people of the district are unhappy with the slow pace of road works undertaken by IRB. Steps should be taken to complete the road works, flyovers, and underpass. “Because of the monsoon season, the closed canals should be cleared or alternative arrangements should be made so that the rainwater can flow smoothly without delay. The NHAI, Konkan Railway, and Navy personnel should work in coordination. The number of workers should be increased so that the work is completed at the earliest,” he said.
“Accidents should be avoided by installing necessary road safety signs. Underpasses and flyovers should be constructed expeditiously wherever required. Most importantly the work should be completed as soon as possible by maintaining commitment in the work and facilitating traffic,” he added.
Hegde asked the NHAI official to submit a detailed report on the work undertaken by the IRB so far and instructed the IRB and NHAI officials to work towards resolving all the issues related to the work by July 5.
MLA Roopali Naik, MLC Ganapathy Ulwekar, Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, District Superintendent of Police Dr. Suman Pennekar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Raju Mogaveera, Assistant Commissioner Jayalakshmi Rayakoda, and district-level officials were present.
