Udupi DC pedals in World Bicycle Day rally
Udupi, June 03, 2022: Instead of just waving the flag and attending the formal function, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M actively participated in the bicycle rally by pedaled the 13.5 km stretch from his office to Malpe beach on Friday.
NYK along with the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and major cycling associations had organized the cycle rally from Deputy Commissioner’s office to Malpe beach.
The DC who flagged off the event was the center of attraction when he sat on the cycle. Participation in the rally was not ‘symbolic,’ as he pedaled the entire stretch of 13.5 km and participated in the stage program at the beach. About 175 riders participated in the rally.
At the beach eight achievers were honored for their outstanding contributions in the field of cycling- The eight included Santosh Kumar – the owner of Deepak Cycle Works, John Robert D’silva – the owner of St. Antony’s Cycle Works, Rajesh Nayak, Tilak Chandra Pal, Rajesh Bhaktha, Dr. Gururaj Krishnamurthy (Super Randonneurs group), Srinidhi Urala (National level Cyclist) and Ganesh Nayak (International level cyclist).
Harshendra was also honored on the occasion (for his Solo walk till J&K).
Wilfred D’souza, District Youth Officer of NYK welcome. Kurma Rao M delivered the presidential address, and Ashish Reddy, DCF, was present. Dr. Roshan Shetty delivered the vote of thanks and compared the function.
