Ensure Govt programs reach eligible beneficiaries
Udupi, May 30, 2022: Social Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary directed the officials to ensure the government programs for the SC-ST communities reach the eligible beneficiaries.
He was speaking at the review meeting in Udupi on Monday.
“The government has implemented several schemes and programs for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes which should be delivered to the eligible beneficiaries within a time frame,” he said.
“A list of those from the SC-ST communities who do not own land and a house should be prepared. Considering this the facilities should be provided. Housing facilities were provided through Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation. However a proposal should be placed before the government to ensure the department releases money directly for the construction of the houses,” he said.
He said that the funds for the development of Paurakarmikas should be passed on to the eligible beneficiaries. Of the 368 posts in the district, 130 are permanent. The remaining 164 are working on a contract basis or outsourced.
The minister instructed the officials to send a proposal to the government to make them permanent.
